Be Cautious of Distraction Thieves

Please remain vigilant as on Saturday in a local supermarket car park in Basingstoke a female who had been shopping returned to her car and was distracted by a male asking for directions to Coventry using a large map.
While this was taking place it is believed her handbag was stolen along with contents and her bank card used with money being withdrawn.
The male is described as aged approx. 30's, around 5ft 10" with black hair and had an eastern European accent.
This particular style of crime is well known, although uncommon in this area. Please take care and be aware of this type of scam.
