Help Save Water During This Warm Weather

We’ve all been enjoying the hot weather during the last few days. Understandably with more people at home we’ve seen demand for water increase significantly.

While we have enough water to go round the extra demand puts pressure on the system that delivers it. To make sure there is enough water for everyone, we’ve been treating and pumping an additional 78 million litres of water a day through our pipes.

This extra water use puts an increasing strain on the extensive network of pipes, pumping stations and treatment works we look after and it can lead to low pressure or a loss of water for some customers at times of peak demand such as the early evening.

Our key worker teams will continue to work around the clock to look after the water network. We’re asking everyone to help us by taking simple steps, such as not watering lawns, not washing cars, reusing paddling pool water and only using dishwashers and washing machines on full loads to help make sure there is enough water for our communities.

To help spread the message it would be great if you could share our top water saving tips within your communities!

We have a dedicated webpage full of tips and advice on how to save water in the home and garden.
